The HDMI port on PCIe video cards compatible with the Mac Pro 2001 only support HDMI 1.4 which can in theory do 4K resolution which is more than enough for your ultra widescreen LG display but it can only do resolutions greater than 1920x1200 via HDMI 1.4 at 30fps. So I was really happy when I plugged this in and it worked perfectly right away. "I pretty much have the worst luck in the world. Found this review of an adapter at Amazon: Still, the Mac mini is now priced higher, with the standard model with 2GB of RAM starting at 699 and the server version with 4GB of RAM beginning at 999. You probably need a Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort adapter or cable. According to the specs, that monitor also has a display port connector.
